A Power Within

Dreams.

In my dreams I see you clearly
no film of tears before my eyes
clear as a picture through a lens
before the dying light arrives.

I ascend fast the steps of weary sleep
climbing to reach your call
but alas my efforts are futile,
for you are nowhere, not here at all…

In my dreams I see your smile
the twinkling of your eyes
smell the warmth of scented body
I will not wake… I do not die!

For nights bring compassion
there is  sympathy in the darkness,
dreams becomes a cosy shroud I
wish not to leave.

In my dreams I see you clearly
In my dreams  I quietly grieve…

  1. What a beautiful poem……

  2. Goodness, this describes it so well! I know well that feeling; I had a similar dream last week about my late mother….

  3. Thank you Susan – I am so glad you enjoyed it. x

  4. How strange that these dreams seem to pop-up when you least expect them – I seldom dream, so don’t really ever hope that one will bring me the face I wish to see Elizabeth, but what joy when one arrives x

  5. Grasp the warmth of scented body, and hold on to it, for that is a gift given through a dream, and is therefore something truly breathtaking, and find peace in the night, when even darkness cannot keep his memory away from you.

Lovely words Sussie, I think of you often.

  6. Thank you for your kind words Michael. I do hope you and yours are well and happy – I am coming for a little holiday to your great country next week – alas not near Rhode Island – just a trip to parts of California, still I am mighty excited!! Life goes on well with good memories filling my mind these days – I am lucky to have kind and loving friends and enjoy my travels very much. Sending love and all very best wishes to you my friend – keep well and happy
